All the resources you need on immigration and ICE

Federal immigration actions are rapidly expanding, with deadly consequences. The killings of poet Renee Nicole Good and nurse Alex Pretti by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minneapolis have brought intense focus on the use of excessive force. An AFT webinar, co-hosted by AFT President Randi Weingarten and AFT Massachusetts President Jessica Tang on Jan. 28, featured experts on immigration and the law. It highlighted AFT resources and showcased how our locals are showing up to minimize fear and trauma.

On Aug. 14, Social Security will mark its 90th anniversary—but instead of celebrating, labor leaders and activists say the program faces the gravest threats in its history. How Retirees Can Help Support NYSUT's Efforts

You may have seen that NYSUT made much progress during the New York State budget process to support education, our students, staff and retirees. The legislative staff, our members and officers used many tools to accomplish this. Tiers 5 and 6, although not entirely fixed, is moving in the right direction.

One way that you can help with the effort it to make sure that you assist in providing the funds needed for lobbying. By completing a VOTE Cope Pension Deduction form, you can help assist NYSUT in having the funds it needs to accomplish legislative priorities. Remember, dues dollars can not be used for this so we all depend on those VOTE COPE contributions.
